The August meeting of the USSVI-Dallas Base was called to order at The Oasis Restaurant at Joe Pool Lake, Saturday, August 4, 2007 by Dallas Base Commander Leonard Tunnell Jr. at 12:00 p.m.

Present were the following members and guests:

Leonard & Linda Tunnell, Wayne & Jo Lynn Standerfer Heather & Joshua, Ron Jansen, Charlie & Nell Cloud, Frank & Gloria Morgan, Mel Polen, Jeff & Sue Morris, Marv & Mary Koch, Eula Plummer, Jim Fox, Frank Havlak, Peter Filidoro, Stan & Denise & Anthony Miller, Chris & Kelli Schnider & Brooklyn Sandvall, Carl Byler, Rich Nelson, John Duke, Bill Bozarth & Deanna Vanover, Ken Ballard, Rob Althaus, Walt Eller, Chuck Paulk, Ray & Vickie Wilgeroth, Len & DeDe Reneau, Ivan & Marilyn Nicodemus, Darrell Townsend, Moody & Donna Forgey & Jamie Ronan, Bill & Shirley Rice, Patti McClane, Tom & Jean McCutcheon, Phil & Maggie Burkett, Wiley Davis & Renate Schrader.

Chaplain Mel Polen gave the invocation and Peter Filidoro led the Pledge of Allegiance. Leonard Tunnell read the Submariner's Creed, and then read the names of the WWII and other boats lost in August while Charlie Cloud tolled the bell.
 

INTRODUCTIONS
The guests were introduced and the WWII SubVets stood and were honored.
 

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The following announcements were made:

1.      Cavalla Work Weekend – August 10 – 13

2.      August 24, Music by Stan Miller at VFW Post 8561.

3.      District 4 Commander Ray Wilgeroth asked for a show of hands of those interested in having a District 4 meeting at some time. There was a good response to the proposal.

4.      Ray gave a good report on the National Board of Directors.

5.      Jeff Morris passed out “test” Convention Registration forms to be filled out and mailed in to check our procedures and database entry.

6.      Ray Wilgeroth reported that the SubVets WWII is closing down as a National organization.
 

GUEST SPEAKER
The guest speaker was Jonathon Hayes of KLUV Radio.

 

Linda Tunnell won the 50/50 drawing and Sue Morris won the gift certificates to Julio’s Restaurant.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
